Chamberlain was born August 21, 1936, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, and grew up there. He attended Overbrook High School and had an impressive basketball career. At 7 ft 1 in (2.16 m) tall and 275 lbs (125 kg) at the time of his retirement in 1973, he was one of the tallest and heaviest players ever to play in the NBA.
He was well known for his intimidating physical stature and large hands, with which he could grab a rebound and initiate a fast break. He was also noted for his unique style of play, which combined size, strength, agility, and speed that enabled him to dominate the court in a way that had never been seen before.
Wilt Chamberlain was an American professional basketball player who is widely regarded as one of the greatest and most dominant players in the history of the sport. During his career, he set numerous records, including scoring 100 points in a single game and averaging 50.4 points per game during the 1961–62 season. He also remains the only player to ever score more than 30,000 points in a career.
